In addition, upon returning from Omaha, the local New Orleans newspaper, the Times-Picayune, published an article by Ronnette King on Saturday, May 21,2005 in the Money section about Colleen, her singing career, local heritage and business, as well as her performances at the Berkshire Hathaway weekend event.
Singer, song writer, Colleen Porter is a native of New Orleans, LA. She has been performing since she was 17 years old, and was delighted to continue to do so at the Berkshire Hathaway 2005 shareholders meeting. She made appearances and did cd signings at the Dairy Queen, the Yellow BKRers Toast & Roast party, Nebraska Furniture Mart BBQ and on ClearChannel KFAB Tom Becka show.
Her songwriting and singing spans all genres. Recently she has written songs of blues, jazz and spiritual lyrics; however, through the years her library of songs includes something for everyone. She has tunes for Broadway, light rock and country compilations as well as the occasional pop composition. Her inspiration comes from family, friends, faith and living life as a journey.
Colleen has traveled the world with musicians performing her own songs as well as singing with POPS Orchestras, Jazz bands and at traditional nightclub lounges. These days travel is more continental U.S., which is wonderful news as she is spending more time recording her 60 original songs.
"In blues songs, comedy acts and software, Buffett fans display enthusiasm. The blues singer from New Orleans, who is anything but blue about "The Berkshire Hathaway Blues."...joining thousands of local, national and international shareholders of Berkshire Hathawy Inc. for an annual company meeting...Colleen Porter, who owns a couple of Bud's Broiler burger restaurants in New Orleans said "The Berkshire Hathway Blues" is actually a celebration...(a song) in a bluesy style...She plans to sing in Omaha this weekend..." by Steve Jordon, Omaha World Herald Saturday, April 30, 2005
